13/05/18 .
Its my sisters birthday today. I made her a driftwood birthday 'card' with sea glass and a photo of us 40 something years ago. My tiny studio is in a fair bit of chaos. I like to have all the mess around for inspiration, but this is beyond the beyond! I am about to cycle to the studio, the sun is shining and I am keen to prepare new boards for paintings from a trip to Shetland in February. We were lucky with the weather. Survived the 14 hour ferry crossing without puking and raced around like lunatics photographing and sketching. We only had a couple of days but really made the most of it. Travelling with the 'Fearless One' is always pushed to its limits. Time to make pictures while I can still feel the wind, rain and sun and smell the sea. 26/05/18 Its been a busy week. Some finishing and varnishing and now down to the business of pricing and submitting, book-keeping and updating websites. Its low-tech scribbling in a notebook mostly and I would rather be outside. Great walk along the Tarmachan Ridge last weekend though. Photos and sketches to work on later. The fearless one has been out of action for months due to a fall, but managed heroically , and only almost spoiled the black dark and silence that night with 'you would just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, wouldn't you?' Really? That's what you have to say when the silence is deafening and the darkness a tangible thing. Oh well, at least we will hear whatever it is coming........ Maybe a dram will take my mind off it.
